Great for Beginners and Experts!

This is a very informative, yet easy to read book. For someone who knows next to nothing about computers, the easy to understand terminology used is great for me. Definitions are very clear and specific. There is a lot of information packed into this little book, I think it would be helpful even to those who already know something about working with computers. Illustrations are also very helpful! Highly recommended for everyone who works with computers and graphic design!

A book packed full of information and concepts, including the background and history of multimedia. Whether you're a beginner or more advanced this book has something for everyone. For me it was a great refresher on topics from software to typography, and everything in between. I enjoyed that the book used easy to understand terminology, clear definitions, and detailed examples and explanations. An added bonus from the book is the Still Struggling, Tip and Quiz sections. A great addition to my personal and professional library

This is a great and very helpful Bible

This is a great and very helpful Bible! Even though it is not complete and finished yet what has been written is very well researched and presented! I have read many translations and this one is my favorite for many reasons but most importantly I believe that the heart of God is really presented in a clear and life-changing way. Also Gods perspective of us, His creation, and the demonstration of His love and purpose in us is better represented and stated than in any other Bible that I have read! I have bought many of these and shared them with friends and family and I have told many other people about the blessing the Mirror Bible has been to me! I am really looking forward to the release of more of the Books of the Bible as they are completed. Thank you Francois for all of your time and effort in putting this together!

Finally...!

O.k, I'm sensing that most people who bought a copy of this book - and are complaining about it- did not read the author's warning: sexual explicit.

Needless to say, it is... *very* sexual explicit.

As I'm concerned this was *exactly* the kind of book I was looking for!!! I've recently took on reading several P&P sequels -from various genres, including "erotic"- and so far in the 'erotic genre', I have to say that this book didn't disappoint. More over I was glad to find out that the sex portrayed feels natural and well written.

Sometimes erotic novels try to show so much that end up being laughable in their portrayal of intimacy. I was glad to find out that this novel didn't fall into that category as it balances a nice plot with erotic elements. Although I might add that this is a personal view and it might change from reader to reader. In any case, I really enjoyed the book. If you are looking for a sequel where Darcy and Elizabeth get it on, you should give this book a try.

Although I agree with some of the comments that at least the digital version NEEDS an urgent revision as it is missing quotation marks from dialogues and such.

Calm down, people

I had to check out the book because it had TWO one star reviews. It must be seriously awful, right?
No, it's not.
It's an erotic fanfic and definitely not my thing. But the writing isn't bad. It's 500 pages for a really low price, and the formatting was good.
If it's not your thing, say that. But you can read the excerpt and know it's an erotic fanfic right away.

As a fellow indie self-pubber, I feel compelled to help balance out the crazy stars here. The title, the excerpt, and the blurb ALL tell you exactly what kind of book it is, so there's no reason to give a one star because it's erotic fiction.

If you bought it looking for great erotica, and hated the writing, then that's something else. I'm a very picky reader, and I thought the writing wasn't bad at all. I've read worse in traditionally published NYT bestsellers.

In short, looking forward to anything that this author might write that is more up my alley. And I'm sure your next reviews will be saying how much they loved the book!

Just OK

What part of "sexually explicit" in the amazon book description did some of the 1-star reviewers not understand? The sex is not what bothered me about this book. Rather, it was the endless references to other books--endless and annoying to us non-English teachers!--and so much unnecessary text and scenes. I skimmed over a lot of it. I really didn't care about the relationship between Bella and Susan, nor the lengthy background on some of the characters' history together. Jeez, give it a couple of paragraphs and let it go! And so many editorial mistakes--especially missing quotation marks around dialog. The one thing I did find interesting was the alternate path for Lydia. I've read zillions of P&P variations. This was just OK--would have been better if shorter and tightened up. As en editor myself, I fault the author's editor for not providing more guidance.

Once again, Chadwick uses Concrete, a compassionate man whose intelligence has been transplanted into a towering, granitelike body with heightened strength and senses, to express a deeply held view on a pressing issue. In the story arc here, Concrete falls in with radical environmentalists seeking to win him to their side to save an old-growth forest. Initially observing from the fringes, Concrete struggles with his conscience, but exposure to the environmental defilement gradually convinces him to take an active role. The arboreal setting gives Chadwick the chance to show off his carefully wrought line work. Two-page spreads depicting, respectively, the remnants of a clear-cut forest and an abandoned drift net containing the carcasses of trapped sea animals are powerful. Chadwick's sympathies are evident, yet he gives the opposing viewpoint a fair hearing, and Concrete's ongoing skepticism helps keep the tale from preachiness, unlike, unfortunately, several ecologically oriented short pieces that round out the volume. Those are illustrated lectures, essentially, like the recent film An Inconvenient Truth. Gordon Flagg

An imperfect classic.

This trade collects Concrete: Think Like a Mountain issues #1-6 and numerous shorter stories from various anthology comics.

The main story here doesn't depend on previous events nor characters (except Concrete). The first four volumes add a little depth but aren't prerequisites.

An extremist environmental group asks Concrete to help their protests against deforestation and to protect an ancient forest. He agrees only to travel with them and anonymously chronicle their struggle, but they hope to sway him into a more active role.

Think Like a Mountain is one of the most well-known and praised Concrete stories, and with good reason. It's researched in amazing detail, carefully plotted, and attempts an even handed presentation of both sides of the conflict. Both the loggers and the environmentalists have faults, and reasons behind their actions.

Where it falls apart a bit for me is that the story isn't nearly as objective or fair as it tries to be. The author has chosen a side, and it seeps into little details that bias the narrative. I'm not saying it was wrong to do so - Chadwick has every right to put a message into his writing. But the lesson would have been even more persuasive if this had been as balanced as it appears and allowed the reader to draw their own conclusions and of using Concrete as an impartial guide all the way through. Instead one side's questionable actions are motivated by selflessness and righteousness, and the other's by fear and greed. And our "impartial" narrator eventually decides one side is justified in the lengths they are willing to go.

Again, Chadwick delivers a powerful, important message here none-the-less, but as is becoming a running theme with me and this comic I feel it had significantly more potential than was reached.

The short stories are the weakest I've read so far. Nothing bad but nothing that stands out either and the themes are getting repetitive.

The longer Concrete goes on the less interested I'm becoming with the direction it's taken. Still, for all my criticisms and laments about what could have been, the titular story is still an extremely strong look at an important world issue and well worth reading for yourself.

Chadwick's masterpiece

This is the most well regarded (and well known) of the Concrete stories, even by Chadwick himself.

Think Like a Mountain has Concrete fall in with a group of Earth First! enviromental activists in their attempt to save an old growth forest from logging. One of the strengths of this book is that Chadwick doesn't try to sway our opinions with common narrative tricks: the loggers aren't evil and the enviromentalists aren't saints in the least. Chadwick wants to win us over with facts and facts alone. As always Concrete, the thinking man's superhero, approaches the problem with, well, lots of thought; specifically on whether we should leave things to the slow route of diplomacy or we should take matters into our own hands for something we think is right - even if it means breaking some laws.

Paul is flawless in his execution of the thought-provoking life of Concrete. He weaves his tale and makes you always think about the life you lead. The best stories are the ones that stay with you and cause you to think time and again.

A legend celebrated...

These days, celebrities lending their name to a brand is commonplace, a practice that's become - in our humble opinion - vulgar. Whether based on greed, narcissism, or simply bad management, it seems like every other Hollywood leading lady (and more and more, leading man) has a line of clothing, home goods, energy drinks, [insert name of nearly any other item you can think of here].

For every dozen Hollywood starlets or handful of douchebags (Ed Hardy/Christian Audigier comes to mind) hawking cheap wares at Macys, Kmart and QVC, however, there are one or two designers who've actually given up their blood, sweat, and tears - not to mention learning the art and possessing genuine creative talent - to legitimately deserve the right to put their name to a label. Dior, Fendi, Gucci, Chanel, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton... timeless, classic, beautiful brands - all of which carry a name from an actual person. Standing strong among them, with a rich history of creative brilliance, is Yves Saint Laurent.

The first tome to celebrate the sheer design genius of the man, Yves Saint Laurent represents a comprehensive retrospective of the designer, the icon, the legendary god of fashion who helped create the industry that we know today as fashion. A celebrity among celebrities, from his first couture collection to his last, Saint Laurent's clothes were celebrated and his brilliance admired- as well they should be.

As vibrant, diverse and fascinating as the man himself, Yves Saint Laurent - the book - plays excellent tribute to the artist. An accompaniment to a retrospective exhibition at the Petit Palais in Paris (featuring more than 300 garments; on view through August 29, 2010), it's a first-rate volume that's as full of history as it is photographs. Aside from his fashion, the volume highlights Saint Laurent's philosophy of style, with special attention paid to his muses- a select handful of women who he not only designed for, but adored.

Although he certainly created a few things that were a bit outside the norm (a perfect example being his knitted wedding dress from the mid-60s, which made the unfortunate woman wearing it look like an enormous tampon), Saint Laurent was known for his sophisticated style, albeit always with at least a touch of glamour. He understood women - and celebrated them; something instantly apparent in his designs. This volume brings that - as well as all the designer's nuances - to the general public, along with images of his hand-selected fabric samples, drawings, sketches, photographs, models... it would be exhausting if it weren't so exciting and enthralling.

At just under 400 pages with more than 200 full color illustrations, this is a coffee table book that should take its place at the top of the stack and remain there. Beautiful and fascinating from cover to cover, Yves Saint Laurent is the next best thing to a conversation with the designer himself.

This catalogue-book contains the exhibition images of this amazing fashion designer,his life and work, born in 1936. He worked at Dior fashion house, launched "the trapeze line ("A" line) in 1958" ... "And in the 1960s, opened his own couture house, with innovative ideas also in their creations, especially the tube (straight line dress) with drawings by the painter Mondrian." (Braga, 2008, p. 87)
Endowed with vast cultural repertoire honored several artists including Vincent van Gogh, Serge Poliakoff, Pablo Picasso, Tom Wesselmann, Jean Cocteau, Georges Braque (a dress in an editorial in 1998 with then-model Carla Bruni, the current first lady). In the late 1960s, for womenwear launched a set of trousers and jacket. Since then, fashion has become a reflection of behavior and ideological identity. Revival, glam, tribes in the 1970s. Multiplicity in the 1980s, multimixed identity in the 1990s. He went through all this, imposing style and aesthetics fully unique, leaving his unmistakable mark.

A must have for NIC Interview prep

This is a great book to prepare for the NIC. Great variety of scenarios with some interpreter and Deaf consumer perspectives. Most scenarios don't have an interpreter's perspective though, so if you want to practice for the NIC you have to make that part up.

This book is extremely useful, especially for an Interpreter in Training like myself. It gives me many different scenarios that I might experience in the future, and having an inside look at all of these makes me feel more comfortable going into this profession. Who knows, I might be in one of these situations during my career, and instead of not knowing how to handle it, I will be able to refer back to this book and resolve the issue. This is an invaluable tool.

LOVE MACHINE still a blcokbuster

Thanks to Grove-Atlantic Press, the novels of Jacqueline Susann are reappearing in print 15 years after the mass market Bantam editions went out of print. VALLEY OF THE DOLLS is still, after 30 years, the all-time bestselling novel of all time.Those expecting a weak sophmore effort in LOVE MACHINE will be glad to hear that her second novel is actually the best-written of all her novels. This insiders view of the television industry (and specifically the rise of womanizing heel, TV anchorman Robin Stone) is a riveting, compelling and compulsively-readable tale that benefits from Susann's real-life background as a TV spokesmodel and actress who was married to a TV producer.If you thought the showbiz folk in VALLEY were ruthless, wait until you get swallowed up by the cast of characters in LOVE MACHINE. There's also much more plot in LOVE than in VALLEY. This is no romance novel, Jacqueline Susann wrote anti-romance novels. She liked to show readers the exciting and torrid lives of the rich and famous and always made readers feel they were better off living in the midwest than starring in a Broadway show or hosting a network news show. The reissued VALLEY had a quaint feeling of once being a very blunt and racy novel that had mellowed over the years (probably due to it being the blueprint for countless bestsellers over the next three decades). "Mutter...Mother...MOTHER!"

There are two major things that distinguish "The Love Machine" from Jacqueline Susann's other novels: the main character is a man, and the book has a happy ending (at least in my opinion).

This book is a very entertaining read. The story centers around Robin Stone, a smart and sexy television executive who's climbing the corporate ladder and breaking the hearts of many women along the way. Although it seems at times that Robin has no conscience because of the way he treats women, he really isn't a malicious character and doesn't intend to harm to anyone. Regardless of the fact that he always makes it clear that he's not interested in a long-term relationship, women still tend to fall for him, and they fall very hard. The book is divided into three main sections devoted to the women who are affected by Robin the most: Amanda, a beautiful and emotional model; Maggie, a brilliant journalist; and Judith, a middle-aged socialite.

Robin is a very interesting character. He's so charismatic that he even manages to charm the reader, and you'll be rooting for him in spite of all his indiscretions. There is also a deeply buried secret in Robin's past that makes him become vulnerable in very unexpected circumstances, and the mystery surrounding him will keep the reader guessing until the very end. I also enjoyed how Robin interacted differently with all the various women in his life. The last section in the book devoted to Judith was a little slow, but that could be because I was expecting a last-minute dramatic turn of events like I've seen in Susann's other novels, and this book was a little different.

If you enjoyed Jacqueline Susann's other novels, you really need to read "The Love Machine." My only disappointment is that this was the last book of Susann's I had left to read...I wish she had written many more!

I didn't know if Jacqueline Susann could live up to "Valley of the Dolls" with this book, but she sure did! "Once is Not Enough" is thoroughly entertaining. The story revolves around January Wayne, a tragic heroine who has an unnatural adoration for her father and is unable to have a successful relationship with another man because of it. When her father marries a wealthy woman to secure his family's financial future, January finally falls in love. Unfortunately for her, the man she falls for is Tom Colt, a married man who is older than her father. Tom replaces "Daddy" for January, but it's only a matter of time before the relationship drags her down into the drug-induced haze that every Susann heroine eventually falls victim to.

Like "Valley of the Dolls," "Once is Not Enough" boasts many colorful characters whose lives intersect in a variety of unexpected ways. There are some funny moments in the book, but for the most part it consists of tragedy and unhappiness. The final few chapters threw me for a loop because the ending is more depressing than either of Susann's other novels. Still, I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an entertaining read. You won't be able to put it down!

Great Content BAD Printing!

Today, I have received, and fully read (about 6 hours) the entirety of the Book of Tyrael.

The authors of this book (Matt Burns and Doug Alexander) had quite the task of matching the wonderful writing of Book of Cain (Flint Dille). I am happy to say that they were up to the challenge, and the writing of this book, is every bit as good as what was put forth, by Flint Dille.

As a complete Diablo lore nerd, I cannot begin to describe my anticipation for this particular lore book. I will most assuredly be re-reading this, many more times, before the release of, Reaper of Souls. I am left both satiated, and still wanting more!

If you are looking for more Diablo content, this is what you "should" buy! (Note the word "should!")

For now my friends, is where It breaks my heart, to talk about the flaws of this potentially wonderful book, the printing.

The Book of Cain, was designed and printed with wonderfully detailed artwork, great pagination, smart use of switching between printed and hand-written text. At no time was the TEXT ever unreadable!

Most of this book is suppose to look like Book of Cain pages glued to modern pages.
While I can surely appreciate the artistic intent, the coloring of these pages, is just too dark.

The black text on DARKLY colored backgrounds makes several words in the book unreadable!!!

Far too many of pages are only readable if you have a direct light beaming down onto the book.

For those of you who think I am probably just going blind, let me assure you that I do wear either glasses, or contacts, and have my vision checked yearly. This is not a case of eyesight.

The sections of the book, that do not exhibit this problem are Tyrael's own pages, these are black text, on a greyish background, and are quite pleasant to read.

However, since MOST of this book's content is meant to come from other notes and journals, kept by Deckard Cain, this means that a lot of content is difficult to actually read!

Not all of these "historical" pages are unreadable, in fact the inconsistency, in which each page is readable is absurd. I truly do not know if this was the result of a flaw in the printing process, or overuse of artist intent.

I WANT to recommend this to every Diablo nut out there, but I can't.

The content is so worth paying for, but just not in this format.

Buy it, if you must, but be prepared to read this in the noon-day sun, or with a flashlight.

The book contains beautiful illustrations on quality paper lined with "gold," giving you the feel that this was truly put together by a former angel. The only complaint I have is that we do not hear much from Tyrael. The book seems to be mostly a collection of the studies of Cain and Leah that Tyrael is "publishing" posthumously. However, this does not subtract from the quality of the book or the lore it presents (history, organizations, speculations, important figures in the history of Sanctuary). Like the map contained in the Book of Cain, the Book of Tyrael also has a "hidden treat" in the back of the book - a family tree relating to Tristam and King Leoric. I would recommend this book to any Diablo fan.

Diablo III: Book of Tyrael

Unfortunately I some how added two to my cart and since my cart was such a big amount of items I didn't even notice. This really sucks but happens. This book is great and plays well with the game. This was a birthday gift to my husband who loves that it comes with so many extras and it's hard cover. My husband gets compliments on the book all of the time as it looks like a really cool book when it's standing in with other books. The pictures inside are beautiful. There is an envelope in the back with a family tree on both sides that is exquisite. This is just a great book that he would recommend to anyone and everyone.
