The present volume is a contribution to the process of interpreting and assessing the post-Dayton human rights regime in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The analysis of the contributing human rights scholars and practitioners is located within the contexts of the immediate reality and needs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the systemic significance of the peace agreement for other post-conflict and complex emergency situations worldwide.

A good guide, not perfect, but worth having!

I got my kids two strategy guides when Pokemon Gold & Silver came out, this one and the "official" Nintendo one. Of the two, this one has gotten MUCH more use. My daughters have marked lots of areas with PostIt flags, the pages are dog-eared, the back is getting ripped, you know they use it!
I realize the previous reviewers noted some minor problems with this guide, but all in all they're just that, minor. No, this guide does not have a built-in Pokedex, they published it before they had the info put together for the Pokedex, and I'm fine with that (see my review of the new Pokedex here on Amazon, it's well worth having too!). And yes, there are some typos, but that's not a big deal.
There is a lot to love about this guide. It has comparison charts for the various types of Pokemon, so you know which type to use when battling. There are pages and pages on everything from TMs to HMs, Berries to Apricorns, the various Pokeball types to the new Mystery Gift items. There's an in-depth section on breeding Pokemon, as well as the newest ways to evolve them (stones versus the happiness factor). There's a great quick and dirty path through the game, which you can check to make sure you didn't miss anything. And best of all, there's a special "sealed" section in the back with spoiler info which you can open or not, depending on whether you're an adult (yes, I know you grownups out there play this game!) or a 6 year-old who needs help through the Tin Tower.
All in all this guide is well worth the money, and if you've got more than one kid playing these games, I'd advise you to get two, to spare yourselves the fighting over it. Don't hesitate, buy it!

Not a bad guide but - no Pokedex?

I have mixed feelings about this Strategy Guide, which I bought as a companion book to Pokemon Gold on the Game Boy. Generally, I think it`s well written and easy to understand, with superb maps which clearly tell you where items are and how to get around in the different cities (which I found really useful, as I`m not very good at navigation in RPGs). It also tells you about the different Gym Leaders and the Elite Four, and what the best Pokemon to use against them are. There is a section on how to breed Pokemon too, plus charts telling you what Pokemon are found in certain areas during the morning, daytime and nighttime and the stages of evolution for a few new Pokemon.
Unfortunately, this book doesn`t really go into detail about where different Pokemon can be found and how to complete your Pokedex. It seems this book was intended just as a walkthrough to help you complete the game quickly, which kind of spoils your fun. If you want help with filling up your Pokedex properly, you have to buy another Prima book, which is advertised in the back.
Overall I`d recommend this book if you`re a novice at the Pokemon games, because the maps and walkthroughs are very good. But sadly, the lack of a proper Pokedex stops the book from being excellent.

some faults but still a good guide

Have being considering for quite some time whether to buy the Brady Games strategy guide instead, due to the attractive shiny Gold/Silver cover ... heard it may be a collector item too.
However, finally decided to pick the Prima one. Reason? ... it is more informative and easy-to-understand after flipping through both the guides.
No doubt, unlike the previous Red/Blue/Yellow guides, Prima fails to consolidate the Pokedex at the back of the book to give a clear-cut listing this time round. Neither does it have a checklist for one to keep track of the Pokemons captured. The Pokedex is actually found throughout the book, making it difficult to refer as and when requires! This feature is similar for the Brady Games one too.
Personally, I like the tables found inside this book. They make it easier to understand certain concepts, eg. there are tables showing the evolution examples (Eevee + Fire Stone = Flareon), breeding examples (Male Pikachu + Female Pikachu = Pichu), and so on.
Moreover, when discussing about an area (eg. Route 30), there is always a table showing the wild pokemons that would appear there at different time of a day (Morning, Day, Nite). This feature does not seem to be found in the Brady Games guide when I glanced through.
Like always, there is a 2-pages rough outlines of what one needs to accomplish at different places and an overview map, serving as quick start tools.
So far the book has being helpful in leading me through the journey, and I am on my way to complete the game.

Brief but good!

This book is a brief insight into the Judean uprisings against Rome in 4 BC. Sidney E Dean mainly relies on the historian Flavius Josephus for his information.

Publius Varus was appointed Governor of Syria, Rome's eastern province, in 7 BC. When civil unrest surfaced in Judea in 4 BC it was his responsibility to deal with it. The author writes well and outlines the causes for rebellion plus Rome's response through Varus and his three legions. The end result was disastrous for the Jewish people as thousands were killed and many were sold into slavery. Augustus, the emperor at the time, was pleased with Varus's ruthless handling of the crisis, so much so that in 7 AD he was posted to Germania, Rome's northern frontier, to keep the region pacified. However, unlike Judea Varus's self confidence proved to be his nemesis.

Unfortunately, this eBook is on the brief side with only 150 pages. I would recommend that the author should reduce the price to around $1. Apart from this I feel that this booklet is a good little reference to add to one's library on Roman history.

This goes by pretty quickly, and that makes it harder to read. There's a lot packed into this book, and if you just plan on reading it, you'll miss a lot. If you're looking for a good, solid idea of what happened in that time, this will give that you.

Unlike the order of physis, the order of nomos played no substantial role in the development of western thought: The first part of the book suggests that Castoriadis sought to remedy this with his elucidation of the social-historical as the region of being elusive to the determinist imaginary of inherited philosophy. This ontological turn was announced with the publication of his magnum opus The Imaginary Institution of Society (first published in 1975) which is reconstructed as Castoriadis' long journey through nomos via four interconnected domains: ontological, epistemological, anthropological, and hermeneutical respectively. With the aid of archival sources, the second half of the book reconstructs a second ontological shift in Castoriadis' thought that occurred during the 1980s. Here it argues that Castoriadis extends his notion of 'ontological creation' beyond the human realm and into nature. This move has implications for his overall ontology and signals a shift towards a general ontology of creative physis. The increasing ontological importance of physis is discussed further in chapters on objective knowledge, the living being, and philosophical cosmology. It suggests that the world horizon forms an inescapable interpretative context of cultural articulation - in the double sense of Merleau-Ponty's mise en forme du monde - in which physis can be elucidated as the ground of possibility, as well as a point of culmination for nomos in the circle of interpretative creation. The book contextualizes Castoriadis' thought within broader philosophical and sociological traditions. In particular it situates his thought within French phenomenological currents that take either an ontological and/or a hermeneutical turn. It also places a hermeneutic of modernity - that is, an interpretation that emphasizes the ongoing dialogue between romantic and enlightenment articulations of the world - at the centre of reflection. Castoriadis' reactivation of classical Greek sources is reinterpreted as part of the ongoing dialogue between the ancients and the moderns, and more broadly, as part of the interpretative field of tensions that comprises modernity.

Suzi Adams and Castoriadis

As a non-philosopher with a largely science background I found this a wonderfully comprehensive and mainly lucid detailed summary Castoriadis' work - a great achievement. Castoriadis must be among our greatest recent philosophers and is one of the most relevant to science and anthropology as well as politics and theology. The centrality of human creativity and invention is an essential theme and has been largely ignored by philosophers. Castoriadis is mostly relatively easy to read and has a quirky sense of humor, with a highly original and prolific output concerning the being of humanity and the natural world. Suzi Adams presents his thinking and conclusions, including many obscure works and others not in English, and adds her own incisive insights and critiques, extending Castoriadis to his limits and beyond in a solid and thought-provoking way. I was very grateful for the inclusion of the later works and thinking, which were not well known to me, and the way she brings together strains running through many different publications and interviews. The implications of Castoriadis' thought - and her own - are deep and highly significant to the betterment of the whole community - a must read (though sometimes difficult - I confess the meaning of some of the last chapter escaped me) for political leaders, business executives and theologians in particular. As a non-philosopher unfamiliar with other languages I would have appreciated a glossary of the abundant French and German terms. This work deserves to be widely read and acted upon, but would also need a summary of Castoriadis' terminology for those who have not read him.
