This book is extremely useful to me since I have been a seeker since ...

This book as well as other books ( It is Done, Playing in Time and Space, Banned Manifestation Secrets and What to do when Stuck) by Richard Dotts are what I called the Step by Step approach to the Law of Attraction. This book is extremely useful to me since I have been a seeker since 2008 but I had patience and negative thoughts issues. I over analyze stuff and need detail step by step approach. I have read through LOA stuff by Neville Goddard, Esther Hicks, Wayne Dyer, David Che, Eddie Coronado, Seth Series, Anthony Robbins, Norman Vince Peale, Adam James and many more. I believe that different people have different needs depending on their mental make up. For me, due to my too logical brain (too much college MBA) and pseudo christian-Baptist Methodist /buddhist upbringing - I needed detailed Plan of Action - short term , long term for the Law of Attraction - by reading all the authors above especially Richard Dotts, Neville Goddard, Eddie Coronado and Adam James - these authors give more specific Law of Attraction applications where Hicks,David Che and Dyers are really good by not as specific. I believe that everybody should read as much as possible from all the authors above and see what works for them. Then we got to really make the law of attraction work by not just thinking about it - but LIVING it (that is the tough part) - we have to have intention (precise), our FEELINGS, thoughts , words and ACTIONS have to fully support our Law of Attraction (LOA) intent fully and congruently. My problem - I will get very excited initially with my belief that I could create my our reality but I will be bogged down with my whining and complaining and negative bitching every day - I think I inherited the whining gene from my parents. We cannot have negative energy sabotaging our intent. Material by these authors above will help everyone apply the LOA asap - but we got to LIVE it and DO it - SUBCONSCIOSLY along with our conscious self - so that it is in sync - read it - use theta, alpha , gamma meditation or whatever positive techniques if needed. Phillipians 4 13 - "I can do all things through Christ (higher self, god) that live in us " - so All of us could do all thing right now - the kingdom of god is within us - SO let us all do it now - in this journey of LIFE - to live, help our fellow man, experience LOVE, Compassion and CREATE OUR OWN REALITY NOW. OK But....

I found this book interesting and worthwhile reading, for the most part.

The author takes a fresh look and has a rather unique perspective when it comes to how life evolves and the important role that divine intervention plays, whether we are aware of it or believe in it. Those things I do agree with, divine intervention IS powerful and is at work in our lives, every day, I truly believe that.

I'm taking off two stars as I did find a few things he brought up a bit simplistic and not realistic. For example, he makes the statement that:

"divinity works through us to ensure that a new-born baby is provided for"

a lovely thought but realistic for all children... unfortunately not the case.

He also brings up some of his own experiences with divine intervention that are rather lame such as getting a good parking spot that he wouldn't have gotten without being delayed. Not really earth-shattering or life changing stuff. ;-) I would have appreciated reading about some important ways that divine intervention has affected him over the years but that didn't happen.

You will know where, how and what to change

Why do I tell this as a very good book?

- This brings in a clarity of understanding the universe's power

- How it can help in our lives

- Explains on our attitude and methods to change it.

- The writing is extremely soft. You might get into trance and forget time when you read it.

- Deals in the important concepts of petitioning the universe

I do have a few doubts with regarding to the basic thought of this book. But that comes in line with my studies and not to interfere with the basic premise and the subject of this book.

The best laid out path for a complete guard game I’ve ever seen.

In April 2009, I was sidelined with an injury. I was down in the dumps about my training and didn’t feel like I was getting anywhere. I had watched tons of Youtube and looked at other training materials, but nothing was really laid out in a way that made sense. I bought the original Mastering the Rubber guard to read while I was injured… And it changed the way I practiced Jiu-Jitsu. In fact, it later led me to train with Eddie in person which led me to open a 10th Planet affiliate.

That’s how good I thought the first book was. This book is better; much better. In fact there is really no reason to pick up the original now. It covers everything notable in the original only with huge improvements in most of it, closing holes that time had revealed in the previously state of the art techniques. Additionally, there is way more material. Advanced moves for rubber guard specialists like the “double bagger” series and also tons of game that is great even if you don’t play rubber guard or aren’t very flexible like the “prison guard” and many more options from the improved “lockdown” half guard and “dogfight”. Honestly, whether you read the first book or not, everyone that does Jiu-Jitsu or MMA should pick this one up. Not only is this the ONLY book I’d consider consulting for the rubber guard or lockdown but I’d also say it’s the best laid out path for a complete guard game I’ve ever seen (complete with MANY flow charts and advice on when to use what and why).

Great continuation of the system.

This edition of the 10th Planet bottom game is a great follow-up to the original Mastering the Rubber Guard. If you are not familiar with the 10th Planet system, this book may be a little overwhelming at first, so I would recommend picking up either the original book or DVD or subscribing to Mastering the System (I'd suggest doing that anyway, as it is one of the best ways that $4.99 a month can help your jiu-jitsu.) However, if you want to go all in, there is definitely enough instruction that you will have little problem flowing through the basic path with enough times reading through and drilling.

This book is laid out differently than Mastering the Rubbe Guard; Advanced Rubber Guard gets right to the meat of the book, the rubber guard. What really stands out to me is the instructions on how to set-up rubber guard from traditional attacks (kimura, hip bump) and the details on how to re-counter from the defenses of those attempts to get a clinching style of attack going. Also the many triangle set-ups from common rubber guard counter techniques are very useful.

If you are interested in the 10th Planet style of jiu-jitsu, I would definitely recommend picking this book up, and also come and register at the 10th Planet forum at 10thplanetjj.com

Took a while to get published, but the wait was worth it!

The content in this book is awesome and it genuinely expands upon the original Rubber Guard book and DVD. It takes the core foundation of what was previously taught and adds an incredible amount of variations for things like base positioning, setups, sweeps, passes, submissions, escapes, all with those crazy and easy to remember names like Special K, Five-O Sweep, Jellyfish, etc.. No doubt, everyone who trains MMA, No Gi, or even Gi, stands to benefit by incorporating the ARG curriculum into their game.

As for the book itself, it has high quality thick color pages, the photography is excellent, and as usual it's very well written with detailed descriptions for every step. What's different from the other RG book is this book's layout feels more modernized. The fonts are easier to read and the graphics and color scheme are super clean. One thing I like is Victory Belt chose to make multiple flow charts for each major topic rather than having one large flow chart at the beginning of the book which felt like they were cramming a lot of material in a relatively small space.

Grade 4-8 After the eruption of Mount St. Helens in 1980, a number of fine books for young readers appeared which discussed at length this catastrophe, the devastation it created, and the geologic forces which caused it. Although providing less detail in these areas, Lauber brings the other titles up-to-date by describing the biological succession and geological changes which have since occurred at Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument. This provides an excellent example of the interdependence of all plant and animal life. How the Earth itself creates new environments for living things which in turn reshape the Earth is demonstrated visually as well as verbally. The captioned high-quality color photographs are well-integrated with the text, superbly illustrating the written material. This volume is more suited to younger readers than the Aylesworths' The Mount St. Helens Disaster (Watts, 1983) and Goldner's Why Mount Saint Helens Blew Its Top (Dillon, 1981), and is more current. Fantastic book for any kid (and parent) interested in the eruption.

When my daughter's daycare class started exploring volcanoes last fall I really wanted to get a good book on volcanoes to help me explain them to her well. This book was one of the most recommended books on the subject that amazon carried so it was a natural choice. That it explores the devastation wrought by Mt. St. Helens' 1980 eruption was all the better since we had just visited the area a couple months before.

Well, instead of the book going to the daycare for sharing it's stayed home as a bedtime book. I typically just sort of narrate the very good images in the book and when she asks a question I refer to the text around that image for more information.

The book has fantastic photos of the area (rivers, lakes, trees standing and just utterly blasted away, as well as plants and animals returning to the area) before and after the eruption. There is no photo capturing any human or animal suffering but the billowing ash and smoke was enough to worry my 5-year-old a bit - she certainly understood what those pictures meant.

The text is, in some ways, even better than the photos because it provides a great deal of introductory terms from geology and other physical sciences without being too boring or too difficult for a parent to supplement on the fly.

"Volcano" is an excellent way to explain what volcanoes are and what they can do as well as how the earth is resilient, continually changing, and perhaps can appear serene and whole when just a few short years ago (even within my daughter's father's lifetime!!) the land looked barren and gray.

I got this for my 8 year old Grandson but found myself totally engrossed in it when I read it. So informative, and breaks down the dynamics of volcanos in a way that readers of all ages can understand. Love it!

This book is a classic. Patricia Lauber has managed to successfully communicate a lot of scientific information, with great transitions that I think are perfect for kids. I recommend this title to anyone.

Disappointing

A new 3er book by Jeremy Walton and published by Bentley, I figured it was a "must have." But after reading it, I was surprisingly disappointed.
I got the impression that the author did a whole lot of research which took longer than expected, and so had to rush the final manuscript out to meet the deadline. I found a number of obvious typos, errors and other discrepancies. The book has a huge amount of data and information in it, but it is disorganized, repetitive, and sometimes contradictory. The illustrations often have little or nothing to do with the neighboring text, there is nowhere nearly as many pictures as I had hoped for, and none in color. The author jumps back and forth between topics numerous times, which I found distracting, to say the least. Many statistics, measurements and performance figures are included, but they are not easily compared as there seems to be no rhyme nor reason to how or where in the book they are presented. Worse, he quotes most figures in their original standard of measure, without providing any conversions. This leads to things like a paragraph comparing the fuel economy of two different models with one being given in MPG (Imperial) and the other in MPG (US). Similar comparisons with prices are evident, using German, US and UK currencies at random.
The production figures are interesting, but use the traditional British method of counting in that the actual year of production is given rather than the model year, which makes the figures difficult to follow, showing things like E36s being built in 1990. There are numerous chapters on racing 3ers, but again the coverage seemed to be poorly organized to me. There was a fair amount of bias (to my E21 oriented preferences) towards the '02s and then the later E36 and E46s, far too much coverage of some of the odd UK "specials."
In sum, my impression is that this book tries to cover too many different 3ers, and seems to have been rushed into print without enough proofreading. I have my copy now, but if something should ever happen to it, I doubt that I will replace it.

American 3'er Lore

BMW's bestselling 3 series gets a detailled insider look with an American perspective, something that other 3 Series titles [mostly originating in UK] fail to supply.
Roundel magazine columnist Jeremy Walton takes us through 5 generations of small BMWs [the company now count the legendary 02 line as the start point for 3 series]. For American buyers are there are massive fact files on pricing and equipment, including a year-by-year specification guyide prepared by BMW CCA president Phil Marx. There are also chapters to cover all generations of the exhilarating M3 models from 1985-2000, American and European specifications. Plus heavily researched racing chapters with exclusive pictures from Klaus Schnitzer taken at the PTG M3 racing facility in Virginia. Walton has previously written a number of BMW titles that have won American IAMC awards, including Unbeatable BMW and BMW 6 Series, so this title has pedigree.

Well researched, poorly written

This is one of those books that tempts you with interesting subject matter, a nicely organized table of contents, wonderful photos (though none in color), and a fascinating array of tables in the appendix. But I was let down by the truly terrible writing. As mentioned in another review, the text is poorly organized and skips from topic to topic with little rhyme or reason. Non sequitors are the order of the day. Basically unreadable. Which is too bad, because the 3ers -- possibly the finest line of sport sedans ever created -- really deserve to have their story told properly.

Sheridan, best known as Jerry Seinfeld's TV mother, reveals her love affair with James Dean in a brief book replete with moony dialogue, prescient remarks about Dean's driving habits and a 1950s New York setting. The effervescent Sheridan, known as Dizzy, was a dancer living in a theater district residence hall for aspiring actresses when she met the 21-year-old Dean, an Indiana farm boy who had come to New York via Hollywood. Their instant attraction was soon consummated. Sheridan portrays Dean as a sometimes corny romantic, who immediately began talking about being "together forever" and who needed "always to touch and be touched." While Dizzy managed to work, dancing in nightclubs all over New York or in summer stock musicals, Jimmy was either more unlucky or more choosy, and brooded over his disappointments. Though she touches on Dean's moody episodes and regular, unexplained disappearances, as well as his disclosure of a homosexual liaison with a California producer helpful to his career, Sheridan doesn't claim that her memoir is a complete account of Dean's New York years. (For example, there's no mention of his acceptance into the Actors Studio in November 1951.) When Dean was cast in a bound-for-Broadway production, he moved easily away from Sheridan. Dean got enthusiastic notices in See the Jaguar, although the play closed in a few days, and the affair never rekindled. Sheridan's feelings for Dean, her pain upon their separation and on his untimely death a few years later, are sweetly rendered and seem genuine, although the details are filtered though a romanticized lens. Before Stiller played George Costanza's father on Seinfeld, he was one half of the comedy team Stiller and Meara, a successful collaboration, in part because Anne Meara was his wife. This is not only the story of Stiller's rise from poverty to become a successful actor and comedian but also the story of a "showbiz" marriage, the unlikely pairing of a Jewish boy and an Irish girl who struggled to stay together for over 30 years. It's a very straightforward memoir with lots of insider, "showbizzy" anecdotes.

Sheridan (Jerry's mom on Seinfeld ) once costarred in a real-life love story with perennial pop-cultural tragic hero James Dean. She gives us a "sweet and funny" saga that other writers have assayed but misplayed, she says. Once engaged to Dean, she ought to know: "after Jimmy was killed only one person was left in the world who knew what happened between us. Me." She is the Dizzy in the title, by the way, and she met Dean when both were aspiring actors in the early '50s. They began to exchange non sequiturs spontaneously in the parlor of a dormitory. He was attracted to her wit and her nickname, and so their relationship began. As far as Dean biographies go, Sheridan's is notably gentle and lacking in either self-promotion or salaciousness. A memoir of the icon as a young actor, it makes an interesting addition to the Dean literature. Mike Tribby

A Sweet, Sweet Tear Jerker

Who knew Liz Sheridan, besides being a terrific actress, was such a fine writer. I thought this might be a humdrum celeb bio ... but in fact it is an absorbing and utterly touching story of young love. You know the tragic ending is coming, of course, but it makes you cry anyhow.

Anyone can read and appreciate this fine book ... but it's an added bonus if you are my age and remember the 1950s New York City Ms. Sheridan recreates.

Forget about a title

Dizzy & Jimmy is a simple, sweet story of falling in love, though never easy or that simple. Dizzy Sheridan makes James Dean real, almost touchable unlike the idol the media has created over the past 60 years. It's a book you start and don't put down 'til you're finished. After reading, I want to sit down with Dizzy and have a cup of coffee with her while she shares some of her life experiences beyond that of falling in love with The Little Prince. That's probably just the actor in me wanting more.
